Company History:

COMPANY HISTORY

In 1955, our Company founders, Joe and Angie Valerio, entered into business scooping ice cream and water ice in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania.

In 1958, they started Valerios Industrial Catering, where they sold a cup of coffee and a doughnut for a nickel from a steel cart. Tose Trucking, Minners Candies and Markel Corporation were their first customers. During the lunch and dinner hours, Joe would go back and sell sandwiches made by his wife Angie.

In 1961, they purchased a few soda and cigarette machines with a vision of servicing their customers 24-hours a day.

In 1964, they merged with Selective Vending.

In 1969, they bought their partners shares and became sole owners.

In 1970 with the growth of their business Joe and Angie changed the name to AVM Vending and moved to Norristown, Pennsylvania.

In 1972 AVM acquired a public company, Model Vending Company and doubled the size of their business.

In 1973, AVM expanded the office coffee service and moved to a larger facility in Bridgeport.

In 1974, AVM entered into the Amusement and Video game business. Pizza Hut and West Chester University were two of their largest customers.

In 1980, AVM sold the Amusement division of the business.

In 1987, AVM became a privately held family owned company.

In 1989, AVM moved to our present location -- a 42,000 sq. Ft. building in Oaks, Pennsylvania. AVM also ventured into the Bottled Spring Water business.

In 1990, AVM changes the name of its spring water to Sparkling Oaks Spring Water.

In 1993, AVM was appointed the exclusive distributor, for our 5 county serving area, of the Cafe 98 Brewing System, a state-of-the-art thermal computerized coffee brewer made in Canada. AVM opened a Gourmet Coffee Shop called Caf Excellence located on Keswick Avenue in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

In 1994, Anthony Valerio was named Keystone Coffee Associations Operator of the Year. AVM opens its second retail location, a coffee cart in the lobby of Abington Memorial Hospital.

In 1995, AVM changes the name of their coffee brand to Caf Excellence and releases a new recipe called Full City Blend consisting of Kenya AA and Sumatra coffees.

In 1996, AVM was awarded the first exclusive distributor of the FLAVIA Beverage System in the United States of America. FLAVIA is a unique single cup beverage system serving Coffee, Tea and Chocolate. AVM became a vending partner with The Wood Foodservice Company.

In 1997, AVM converts the way of servicing coffee service customers from pre calling for the order to route sales, where the route driver write the order based on sales history by item using a handheld computer and printing the invoice from a printer inside the truck.

In 1998, AVM recorded record growth in their office Coffee Division of 39%. Caf Excellence introduces a new coffee recipe of Panamanian and Brazilian Santos coffees roasted in a French Roast.

In 1999, AVM changes the look of Caf Excellences packaging.

In 2000, AVM acquires Take Ten Coffee Service and increases their sales by 13%

In 2001, AVM is the first vending company in the Philadelphia market to introduce a new technology in their snack machines called Sure Vend. Sure Vend reduces the refunds and increases customer satisfaction by 80%

In 2002, AVM launches their new Single Cup Pod Coffee Brewer called the Caf Excellence Milano. AVM a vending partner of Sodexho Foodservice Company.

In 2003, AVM recorded record sales in their Vending Division of 22%. The Caf Excellence Milano gets high reviews in Vending Times and Vending and OCS Magazines.

In 2004, AVMs Caf Excellence brand introduces a new coffee recipe called Serendipity. This coffee is a blend of Tanzanian Peaberry and Ethiopian Sidamo coffees.

In 2005, AVM acquires a competitor Caribbean Coffee Services and increases their sales by 32% making them the largest independently owned coffee service operator in the Philadelphia market. AVM becomes a distributor of the Keurig single cup coffee machine.

Presently we have over 40 vehicles in our fleet to serve our customers. Today, AVM is celebrating over

40 years in business and looking forward to a bright and prosperous future. AVM is 100% owned by the Valerio family and operated by Joe and Angies three children Joseph Jr., Angela and Anthony.
